S4 EP.14: Endless shrimp at the end of the world – Reviewing the Fallout TV show pt.3

The guys (Kareem, Ken, and Pat) continue their review of the Amazon hit series, Fallout as they tackle the back half of the season, episodes 5 – 8. Tangents include tricking investors with robots, hoarding junk during the apocalypse, endless shrimp ruining businesses, and more.

Show Notes

Ah, the irradiated airwaves of the post-apocalyptic podcasting world! Let’s dive into the Fallout series with all the enthusiasm of a ghoul discovering a fresh can of Nuka-Cola.

Episode 5: “When Things Look Glum, Vote Vault 31”

Welcome, wasteland wanderers, to another thrilling installment of “Vote Vault 31: Democracy in the Apocalypse!” I’m your host, Pip-Boy Pete, and today we’re navigating the treacherous waters of post-nuclear politics.

  • Lucy and Maximus: The Odd Couple of the Wastes Lucy, the sharp-tongued scavenger with a penchant for pre-war fashion, teams up with Maximus, the brooding ex-Raider who secretly collects antique bottle caps. Together, they’re like the oddball duo you’d find in a Vault-Tec sitcom—complete with canned laughter and a radroach sidekick.
  • The Head Hunt Yes, you heard that right. The head. Not just any head, mind you—it’s the key to unlocking Vault 31’s secrets. Lucy’s father, the former overseer, left cryptic messages about it. Is it a literal head? A metaphorical one? Or maybe just a really fancy terminal password? Tune in to find out!
  • Betty: The Unexpected Overseer Vault 33 holds an election, and Betty emerges as the new overseer. She campaigned on a platform of “More RadAway, Less Radroach.” Her slogan? “Vote Betty: Because We All Deserve a Clean Vault!” But can she handle the pressure? And will her radroach extermination policy inadvertently wipe out the entire population?
  • Destroyed Cities and Vault-Hopping Lucy and Maximus stumble upon a half-buried city, its skyscrapers now home to super mutants and feral ghouls. Meanwhile, they accidentally open Vault 42, where the residents have been reenacting Shakespeare plays for two centuries. (Spoiler: Their “Hamlet” is a masterpiece.)
  • Tooth Trouble In a dramatic twist, a character gets shot—not by a raider or mutant, but because of a rotten tooth. Turns out, dental hygiene is still essential in the wasteland. Who knew?

Episode 6: “Who Makes the Rules When the World Ends?”

Greetings, fellow survivors! Grab your Pip-Boy, adjust your Pip-Boy FM antenna, and let’s rewind to the pre-apocalypse days when people worried about Wi-Fi passwords instead of radscorpions.

  • Cooper Howard’s Smoke Break In a mysterious void (probably the break room of the afterlife), Cooper Howard—the smooth-talking trader—films a commercial for Vault-Tec. Picture this: Cooper, leaning against a crumbling wall, saying, “Vault-Tec: Because even in the end times, you deserve a well-ventilated vault with decent coffee.”
  • Vault 4: The Ultimate Safe Space Vault 4 was designed to keep out two things: radiation and communists (the Reds). It’s like a Cold War panic room with a jukebox that only plays Elvis tunes. But rumors swirl—did Vault-Tec secretly stash a lifetime supply of Nuka-Cola Quantum in there? And what’s with the mural of Vault Boy arm-wrestling a Deathclaw?
  • Connections Unravel Cooper’s association with Vault-Tec starts fraying like an old Vault 101 jumpsuit. His friends side-eye him at the local bar, muttering, “He’s gone corporate.” Meanwhile, Moldaver—the guy with more secrets than a locked terminal—hints at becoming the series’ big bad. Is he hoarding stimpaks? Or does he just collect rare bottle caps?
  • Phone Number Enigma Cooper’s commercial ends with a catchy jingle: “Call Vault-Tec at 213-25-VAULT! Operators are standing by—unless they’re fending off radroach invasions.” I tried calling that number, by the way. It led to a confused old lady who said, “I just want my grandkids to visit more.”

So there you have it, wasteland warriors! Tune in next time for more mutated melodrama, radioactive romance, and questionable dental decisions. And remember, in the Fallout universe, war never changes—but the plot twists do! 🎙️🔥📻

EP.120 – Jimmy Olsen's Manosphere Problem – A Review of James Gunn's Superman pt.4 Tangential Giants Podcast

The Tangential Giants return to finally wrap up their review of James Gunn’s Superman, and somehow, the last stretch of the movie gives them even more chaos to chew on. Kareem, Ken, Pat, and guest Tim dive straight into Jimmy Olsen’s full-blown Manosphere spiral, because apparently, even in the DCU, no one is safe from a podcast algorithm gone rogue. From there, the crew takes a hard look at the new Kents, who are depicted as so financially underwater that even Smallville’s cows are probably judging them. Then comes Lex Luthor’s army of Musk-like minions, a collection of tech bros who look like they’d unionize only to demand more stock options in exchange for less dignity. And of course, the episode wouldn’t be complete without discussing this new foul-mouthed Supergirl, who arrives like a cosmic warning label and immediately starts cussing out anyone within a five-mile radius. The Giants try to make sense of it all, but naturally end up wandering into philosophical detours, comic book lore debates, and at least one argument about whether Jimmy Olsen needs therapy or a firmware update. If you enjoy superhero analysis mixed with unhinged tangents, this is the perfect finale to the Superman review saga.#tangentialgiants #superman #jamesgunn #supergirl #jimmyolsen #LexLuthor #dcu #dcuniverse #supermanmovie #comicbookmovies #nerdpodcast #popculturepodcast #dccomics #moviediscussions #superherotalk #podcastlife #dcfans
